The modern bride faces many expectations not visited on her predecessors; where once the tradition of a white wedding dress reigned supreme and many would inherit the same garment their mother wore, the availability of choice and a myriad of deviations from traditional styles of wedding have made non-traditional dresses increasingly popular.
However, even if your wedding venue or format differs from those of previous generations, there is still a place for a simple white minimalist look, the kind of style epitomised by the Aesling range of wedding dresses.
Even some celebrities still prefer a simple look. Selena Gomez, for instance, was seen in a delightful but straightforward white wedding outfit for the dress rehearsal before tying the knot with Benny Blanco earlier this month. There was no reinvention of the wheel here.
This may be in line with a trend for well-known ladies getting married, with US-based Tedwedding observing that 2025 has seen a lot of minimalism, a prime example being the nuptials of Florence Pugh and Timothee Chalamet.
“The ‘quiet luxury’ movement has reached bridal wear, with simple column dresses, unadorned veils and tailored suits becoming the new markers of sophistication,” the publication suggested, adding a significant thought that may be an important consideration for your own wedding: That a minimalist style won’t look ‘dated’ in years to come.
Of course, this is not how everyone will want to do it, be they celebrities or the girl next door. And if you are that girl next door, the choice will be all yours.
If you do want to wear something a bit different from the norm, we can accommodate that, but the key thing is that you absolutely don’t have to. We have a wide array of designs that can suit every taste.
Many high-profile brides have resisted all manner of temptations to do something eye-catching and novel in favour of a classy, simple look. It shows that even in non-traditional weddings, the minimal can still be marvellous. Your dress can be too.
