"When should I start looking for my dress?"

"Do I need an appointment?"

At JJC, you are in the hands of someone truly versed in the language of bridal. We offer private appointments in a laid back and relaxed environment, where we love nothing more than to learn about your love story, and your ideas for the wedding that you’re dreaming of. Our studio is a transportive space, where we change the concept of traditional bridal shopping into something far more intimate and personal. We want to make sure that every bride gets the time that they deserve to feel special in our store, which is why the studio is by appointment only.

Where possible, we would recommend that you schedule an appointment 4 weeks in advance, particularly if there is a specific date that you are looking for, as we hate having to turn brides away. Appointments are available from Wednesday to Saturday, and we offer evening availability on Wednesday and Thursdays. All bookings must be made by the bride and not on behalf of the bride.

Your appointment will last for up to an hour and a half, and during this time you may be accompanied by two guests. We will continue to operate our Zoom station so that others can join you virtually, and we can arrange a Zoom meeting for you on the run up to your appointment. For safety and insurance reasons, we cannot allow babies, children or animals into the studio, nor can we make exceptions for larger guest numbers.

Leading up to your appointment, we love to use this time to find out more about your vision and help you to curate a Wishlist of styles that you would like to try on during your appointment. You can find all of the dresses that we carry in store on our website and Instagram, and you can also make your own Wishlist on both of these platforms too.

There is a £30 deposit required for appointments on Saturdays, and from 4pm during the week and on Saturdays, as well as a £20 deposit required for midweek appointments before 4pm.

Your deposit is redeemable against all full price purchases within two months of your appointment booking, and is refundable if the appointment is cancelled with more than 72 hours until the appointment. We also offer a complimentary 45 minute appointment to retry your favourite styles, before making your final decision, within two months of your booking.

If you or a member of your party is unwell, please contact us to reschedule your booking as soon as possible.

In our experience, between 10 to 12 months is the ideal time for you to begin your dress shopping journey. This allows time for you to gather ideas and inspiration, before falling in love and saying yes to your dream dress.

Our designers all use boutique production, which means that made to order dresses can take up to 6 months. On top of this we would advise allowing at least 3 months for shipping and alterations.

Dresses can often be made in a shorter time frame, and this is known as a rush order – you will typically fall into rush order territory if you have less than 8/9 months until your wedding. Rush orders incur additional charges and are often subject to pre-approval from the designer, based on their own production schedule. Rush order fees can range from £100 to £800, so please take this into consideration.

We understand that shorter lead times are inevitable, which is why we also have an array of gorgeous dresses listed on our online sample sale. The sale can be shopped from the comfort and safety of your own home, with gowns available for immediate purchase, with prices from £250, that can then be shipped internationally. We also hope to be able to hold sample sales in store, so if you would be interested in attending upcoming sample sales, please let us know.

As we are unable to place an order for a dress without a wedding date, it is crucial that these are both booked when booking and attending an appointment ourselves. Your date and venue will inspire and influence your look for your big day, so this is the perfect starting point for your dress search.

"Who should I bring with me?"

It is important to bring people whose opinions you value and trust. Choosing a wedding dress is  a very personal choice, and it is always helpful to make your chosen guests aware of your ideas, so that they too can interpret what you envision and help you to truly find a dress that embodies you and the bride that you want to be.

Wedding dress shopping can be a whirlwind of emotions. We want your experience to be unforgettable but not overwhelming. You are welcome to bring two of your VIP’s to the appointment in person, and we can arrange for any others to join you virtually via Zoom.

It is also not uncommon for brides to come alone, but you will have a friend in us, and we will assist you and guide you throughout your appointment.

If you are considering wearing any kind of shape wear or specific underwear on your big day, please feel free to bring this along too. The same goes for hats, jackets or boots – we want you to feel like you!

Most of our dresses can be worn without bras, but for low back bra alternatives, we can highly recommend Ender LeGard.

"What sizes are your samples?"

As all of our designers are based internationally, there are differences with sizing from country to country. The majority of our samples are roughly around sizes 10 to 12, and we also have a selection of dresses in sizes 14, 18 and 20. We understand the intimacy of fabrics, the fit and form, as well as the alteration process, so we will always give you the best idea of how a dress will look, fit and feel, regardless of the sample size.

It is very rare that a sample ever fits anyone exactly how it should, so we will be on hand to pin and tweak the dresses during your fitting

If you have any queries regarding sizing, please feel free to reach out to us ahead of your appointment.

Payment

When you have chosen your gown, a non refundable 60% deposit is required to be paid upon placing an order.

We accept payment by debit and credit cards, as well as cash and bank transfers. Payment links and invoices can also be sent out via email, so that you can make payment from home.

Once we have received your deposit, we will place your order with the designer. We will then contact you when your dress has arrived with us. The remaining 40% balance to be paid when the dress arrives in the UK.

Please be aware that we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges, and that all sales are therefore final.

Alterations

We offer an in house alteration service that is available at our discretion. No fittings or alteration costs are included in the price of a gown, therefore all alterations costs are an additional charge.

Our in house alteration team are available for fittings mid week, including evenings. Our in house alteration team will need to see you for your first fitting between two to three months before your wedding date, depending on their production schedule. The alterations to your dress can be started once the dress has been paid for in full.

From 2022, all fittings will require a booking deposit as confirmation of attendance, and this fee is redeemable against the alteration costs.

If you are based more than 50 miles away, it may be advisable for you to have your alterations done closer to home. We have recommendations for alteration hands across the UK. The dress can also be couriered to you if you are unable to visit to collect your dress.

Photography

Once you have purchased your gown, you are welcome to take pictures of your dress, however, until this point we cannot allow any photography or videography of the dresses.

We have set up a tripod in store so that brides can Zoom with friends or family, but please be aware that the use of photography or videography will not be permitted through this platform.
